Remembrance Day
Today we got poppies. We got them so that we can remember the soldiers who fought in the war. We also had an assembly about remembrance day and remembering the soldiers who died. We took a moment of silence during the assembly to think about and thank those soldiers. We did some art today: we painted poppies with our thumbs and we also worked on our pumpkin or fall art. We watched a video and we learned that poppies are for remembering the soldiers, the poppies started growing on the fields where the soldiers died, all the money from buying poppies goes to the soldiers and their families to help them buy food and clothes.

2) retakes for pictures are on Monday November 12. If you would like a retake, please bring your envelope, proof sheet and order form. If you have not had a photo taken at all yet, this can happen on Monday as well.
Today we worked on letter T in writing with Grade 1s. Grade 2s did a remembrance day story and read it for the class. In math they worked on counting backwards by 2s and 5s. We also worked on a writing sample to show Ms. Adamson where we are at in our writing. Hadia was star student today so she did our calendar. In social studies we talked about Kindness and we had to solve puzzles to figure out what kindness words and phrases fit into different spots. We also went to gym. Tomorrow we will be having our remembrance day assembly which we learned a little bit about today.

November 1st
Today we started our November calendar. In math, grade 1s made cards with numbers on them and with the number words. In math, grade 2s counted seeds by 2s to find out how many seeds were in their Halloween pumpkin yesterday. There were 500 seeds! In grade 2 writing they made monsters. They had to describe what their monster looked like then they had to try and guess whose monster was whose. Today grade 1s were working on letter 'Q' - we learned that queen starts with letter 'Q' and quick also starts with 'Q'. We learned about 'cooperation' and we worked in a group to come up with a way to solve a problem. We could use 'rock paper scissors' to take turns. We could also all share together.
